The amazing thing about this cartoon is how well the action scenes are portrayed. Usually I struggle to follow cartoon action scenes that are too crowded or characters posing with lots of "action lines". With Vagabond you really get a sense of how the characters move - speed, timing and how close the near miss is - by you could see it all

in addition, the eyes of the character jump off the page. you really feel like they're looking at you with the right eye. the faces are so unique in the way they have wrinkles and scratches that clarify the letters.

artists are really great directors. if you want, the "camera" is well placed to capture action and drama - often you can still hear the sounding sword in cloudy days in the dense forest, bright mornings in small villages, deep nights on the beach under the bright moon, the scenery always adds to the mood.

the story is excellent and now reads in chapter 166 that all the various characters are being interconnected in the big story. characters are trying to be strong and they live life with swords, but what does it mean to often be strong, sometimes it is better to live with a sword

again, the artwork really does it for me. i wouldn't say it's particularly beautiful, but it's so effective. i really feel like i'm looking at more than reading. i can almost hear what's going on and see the action happening. definitely worth reading.
